Mari Stecker is a licensed acupuncturist and nationally board certified Chinese herbalist. She worked as an acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine herbalist at WholeHealth Chicago, an integrative medicine clinic, for 25 years. While there, she worked alongside medical doctors and other healthcare practitioners and treated patients with a wide variety of health concerns including hormonal imbalance, PMS, menopause, fertility, back pain, neck pain, TMJ, fibromyalgia, Lyme, allergies, stress and anxiety. Mari continues to study and enhance her skills. She completed post-graduate training in China upon graduating from acupuncture school. In 2017, she completed a year long course of study with world renowned Chinese medicine dermatologist, Mazin Al-Khafaji. After passing a rigorous exam, she earned her Diploma in Dermatology and is listed as a member of the prestigious international Register of Chinese Medicine dermatology. She learned to successfully treat many skin conditions with Chinese herbal medicine including psoriasis and eczema. More recently she has been studying dry needling and often incorporates this technique when treating patients with musculoskeletal pain conditions.
Since 2017, Mari has been involved with the Global Acupuncture Project (GAP) as a trainer and more recently as a Board member. GAP is a non-profit organization that has been sending volunteer trainers to Uganda and Mexico for over 20 years. The volunteers teach acupuncture to healthcare professionals in these countries so that they may provide services to their communities. Mari has traveled to Chiapas, Mexico multiple times over the past few years to facilitate acupuncture trainings.
